The simple breeze of a warm summers day. The gentle kiss of the sun reminding you of the One who Created it. All the elements and complexity of creation, captured in a simple flower.

A Truer Meaning

The simple breeze of a warm summer’s day.
The gentle kiss of the sun reminding you of the One who created it.
Each moment, every petal, whispering the truth Jesus has invited to write on your heart:

You are being redeemed.

In your walk of faith, there are reminders through the growth, through the waiting, through the becoming, there are symbols planted into creation just for you.

And one of them is the marigold.

What the Marigold Says About You

You may already know this: marigolds are more than just cheery orange blooms. In my garden, they are humble guardians that protect other plants and allow them to grow strong and flourish.

That’s a picture of what Jesus does for you.

He comes to you, gentle and lowly (Matthew 11:28-30). He is your protector (Psalm 91). He desires for you to grow strong, rooted in Him to flourish to your full potential (John 15:4-9). He is your redeemer (Colossians 1:13-14).

Yes, all of that comes as a reminder from the marigold. That’s why I chose it as the first featured bloom in my new One of One Hundred fine art series for August.

Because I want you to be reminded:

  • Redemption is real.
  • Your life has purpose.
  • You are seen by the one true God who protects and restores.

Why This Painting Was Made for You

Originally, this inspiration started with a painting I designed for my church’s 40th anniversary, (coming September 2025). It is a painting that celebrates how God works through our support of Gospel-centered ministries across the nations. I included blooms representing many cultures and countries, but the Marigold stood out.

The more I painted it, the more I realized:

This wasn’t just a flower for an event, it was a symbol for people like you and me.

People whose faith has been tested to the point of uncertainty.

People who continued to seek the Lord, because He first pursued us.

People who believe that even their current circumstances can and will be redeemed.

From Studio to Story: Behind the Process

You know those small moments when something finally clicks?

This print was full of them.

There were many versions of the Marigold. Different angles. Dozens of petals. A few almost made it into the final 5x7… but this one held something special.

In each brushstroke, I was thinking about how it would sit in your space.
How you might glance at it during a weary day.

How it might remind you: the Lord is still doing a new thing.

(Yes, Isaiah 43:19 inspired that line. And yes, I made a Scripture card version too, see down below.)

Why It’s Hand-Made, Always

The Arts & Crafts movement, specifically one of the fathers of that movement, William Morris, has inspired much of my style and work.

I learned about Morris in my university Interior Design classes. I was in love with the beauty, nature-filled, and high level of craftsmanship.

Side note: The Arts & Crafts movement was a result, rather, opposition to the Industrial Revolution. It was a stand to maintain human craftsmanship and quality as opposed to machine-made mass production.

If you’ve wondered why it’s so important to me that I make each piece of art here in my studio home, this is why. I believe in creating beautiful products for you that follow an ethical standard.

This is also why I have partnered up with my affiliate, Trades Of Hope who create opportunities for skilled craftsman around the world.

Ok, enough of the mini history lesson. Let’s wrap up this short but hopefully meaningful post.

A Bold Invitation

Whether you hang this in your hallway, gift it to a friend walking through grief, or simply sit with it during your morning coffee, my hope is the same:

May this Marigold remind you that He can make you new.

That God is still in the business of redemption.

That God sent his one and only son to die on a cross for you. (John 3:16)

That if you confess with your mouth that Jesus died for your sins and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

Bask in that beauty today, my sweet friend.
